The Believer’s Hope of Glory

Have you ever wondered why God created the fly or mosquito? They don't seem to have any purpose whatsoever but possibly be food for other birds and animals. Their very buzzing presence seems to make our life an unacceptable and miserable annoyance. It's almost as if we can't rest until that pesky fly or mosquito is squashed and put out of its existence. In the same way we might ask what the purpose of our present day sufferings are all about? The Apostle Paul spoke to these concerns for the believer in Romans 5:1-11. In this amazing section of God's Word we find the Believer's Hope of Glory and five results of justification by faith. Paul clarifies for our finite minds the reason and purpose of suffering. Not unlike that fly or mosquito pain and suffering is a tool used by Almighty God to perfect us, grow us, mature us and assist us in our Christian walk and journey towards spiritual maturity. This lesson is of the utmost importance for every believer as we navigate the bitter experiences of life and ministry. Let's Bring it Home as we Listen for Life!

WAR and PEACE

"What in the world is going on?" These are words we hear more and more as we collectively watch our world careen into anarchy, rebellion and ruin. What's a true believer to do? How then do we live in such a hostile and morally bankrupt environment? Knowing we are at war and who we are at war with is a beginning. This war between God our Creator and you and I, His creation, began in the garden of Eden and has escalated throughout every generation since the beginning of time. We need peace: Peace with God and the Peace of God. The Apostle Paul gives us a summary of the Doctrine of Justification in Romans 5:1-21 Pastor Pete begins this amazing section in the first two verses of this amazing chapter. "War and Peace" (Know God, know peace; No God, No peace) Let's bring it home as we Listen for Life!

Abraham’s (My) Righteousness – Part Three

The Apostle Paul, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, instructed the church then and the church now on not only our utter depravity but also the hope of justification by faith through the finished work of Jesus Christ who saved us from our sin and an eternity in hell. Using Abraham as his illustration of how the process of salvation takes place: 1. Abraham was justified by faith not by works. Romans 4:1-8; 2. Abraham was justified by grace not by the law. Romans 4:9-17; and, 3. Abraham was justified by hope not by unbelief. Romans 4:18-25. What can the unbeliever and believer hope in? A Faith that in Confusion: Thinks, A Faith that in Hope: Believes. A Faith that in Weakness Trusts, A Faith that in condemnation: Justifies and Saves. Pastor Pete prays the Holy Spirit will breathe on this message and upon your heart as we bring it home. Abraham’s (My) Righteousness – Part Two

There is much misunderstanding and outright false teaching today on what true salvation is. The Apostle Paul teaches, in his letter to the church at Rome, three indisputable truths regarding our self-righteousness: 1.) Our righteousness does not come from our works, (Romans 4:1-8) 2.) Our righteousness does not come from ceremonial religion (Romans 4:8-12) and 3.) Our righteousness does not come from the LAW. (Romans 8:13-17). Listen for LIFE!

Abraham’s Righteousness – Part One

So much controversy over the subject of salvation and whether or not we need it or not. Isn't it pretty evident that we are in trouble? That society and mankind in general is morally bankrupt and depraved? What hope do we have apart from Christ alone, Faith alone, Grace alone, from the Scriptures alone for the Glory of God alone? In this section of Romans Pastor Pete opens chapter four with the first of four parts on the person of Abraham, revered and adored by Jews and Gentiles alike. From the life of Abraham, saved by faith, we learn: 1. The Man, 2. The Heart, 3. The Scripture, 4. The Choice, and 5. The Way, the Truth and the LIFE! (Romans 4:1-8) Listen for LIFE!

The Righteousness of Jesus Christ

The Apostle Paul continues to explain the Doctrine of Justification by Faith: 1.) The Source of our Justification: The Grace of Grace of God; 2.) The Grounds for our Justification: The Cross of Christ; 3.) The Means of our Justification: The Faith of the Redeemed; and lastly, 4.) The The Effect of our Justification: Union with Christ and Communion with the Saints of God. Listen for Life!

“But Now!”

Pastor Pete takes another look at Romans 3:21-25 in a message entitled: "BUT NOW!" The Apostle Paul has just completed his lengthy doctrinal teaching on the Doctrine of Condemnation and now introduces the Doctrine of Justification by Faith in this passage. How appropriate for the first two words of this teaching to be the words, "BUT NOW!" This is an amazing passage introducing the deep Biblical truths of Propitiation, Redemption and Justification in our salvation. Listen for LIFE!

What Is God’s Standard for Righteousness?

Have you ever asked yourself the question, "What Does God Want?" If we are to get to heaven and not end up in hell what will it take to get us there? Pastor Pete shares the Apostle Paul's explanation of God's standard of righteousness, how we can bring God satisfaction? In other words, What does God want from us? It doesn't get more practical than this folks! (Romans 3:21-25a) Listen for Life!

Goodness Gracious! Part Three

In Romans 3:18-20 Paul completes his thorough Doctrine of Condemnation. In these last few verses Paul summarizes the human condition as he has carefully explained from Romans 1:18-3:20. Mankind has no fear of God, therefore no desire to please or to worship God. We all stand Guilty as Charged before the Court of Heaven. "Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin." - Romans 3:20 Listen for LIFE!
