“The Spirit of Intimacy”
What or Who do you love the most? The Scriptures are very clear on this subject. Matthew 22:37-40 tells us we are to love God first and foremost above ourselves or anything else. To ignore this precept is to essentially break all of the ten commandments. Loving God helps us to love others; serving God helps us to serve others. The centrality of our intimacy with God has everything to do with the core and passion of our hearts and lives. In Romans 8:28-39 we see the “SPIRIT OF INTIMACY” – (The Believer Has a New LOVE). This famous passage tells us two essential truths from the heart of God Himself through the pen of the Apostle Paul: 1.) No Accusation Will Ever Stand Against True Believers, (8:31-34) and 2.) No Separation Will Ever Exist Between the Savior and True Believers. (8:35-39) As Pastor Pete concludes this amazing Spirit filled passage in Romans 8: Bring it Home, Take it Home as you Listen for LIFE!

The Spirit of Victory!
The Spirit of Victory! The Believer Has a New Destiny ROmans 8:31-39 I’m not much of a hiker. But when I have gone on hikes after much exertion of blood, sweat and tears and stood on the crest of the hill or small mountain top I have to reluctantly admit I have loved the sweet sights of lofty heights. The exertion was worth the view. Having said that, our trek through Romans up to this point hasn’t been without sore muscles and taxed minds to be sure, however; now that we approach the lofty peaks of Romans 8:31-39 we can appreciate the view having looked back into the deep valleys of where we have come from. The chapters leading up to this lofty height have crushed us spiritually, reminding us time and time again of our utter human inability and depravity. Once we’ve accepted that essential truth, the beauty of our salvation takes on the glorious vistas of sights unseen and of experiences unknown. We are humbled, broken and yet revived as we stand on these mountain peaks and look down into the valley of such great salvation. Before we start down the other side into new experiences, of what true salvation does for and in the believer, we want to sit and be still catching the last rays of sunlight as this day ends and a new one begins. This is our great privilege in this message, to be still and know the beauty and wonder of our amazing God. Bring it Home as you Listen for LIFE!
“The Spirit of Security” Part Three
“A man plans his ways; the Lord directs his steps…” (Proverbs 16:9) How interesting when one looks at the book of Romans and the Scripture truths packed into each verse what the Spirit of God as our Teacher will reveal to us. In Romans 8:28-30 we see what many theologians have called, ‘The Golden Chain of Salvation.’ Few of us as believers fully comprehend or appreciate the wonder and majesty of what God has done for us in so great salvation. Many churches and preachers are more than willing to take credit for what is God’s work alone. The teaching of the doctrine of salvation, election, foreordination and predestination are legion. What does God’s Word say, what does it mean and what should it mean to me are the questions under consideration as we reverently open the pages of Scripture and submit our thinking to the Word of God rather than the Word of God to our thinking. Once again, in Part Three, Pastor Pete will attempt to unlock the meaning of Romans 8:29,30 for the serious student of God’s holy Word. Bring it Home as you Listen for LIFE!
“The Spirit of Security” Part Two
Much of the issues of life are about a very real quest for security and confidence in living. The New Testament teaching of Salvation is clear and filled with hope for the believer in Christ. As confident and secure believers we can live out our appointed days with a sense of purpose and commitment to principles of life greater than our own. Our breath and very existence is wrapped up in God’s providence and sovereign glory. When we come to terms with who God is and with who we are it is then we are truly free to pursue what is of the utmost importance to life: God’s eternal glory! “The Spirit of Security” Part One
Next to John 3:16 one of the most famous verses in all of Scripture might be Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Pastor Pete will do his utmost to unpack this amazing verse. “The Spirit of Security” – (The Believer Has a New Hope!) We will look to the certainty of security, the extent of security, the recipients of security and the source of our security. The Spirit of Glory!
Romans chapter Eight is one of the greatest chapters in the Bible. Last time we looked at the Spirit of Adoption: the believer has a new family (Romans 8:12-17), this week Pastor Pete unpacks the Spirit of Glory: the believer has a new hope from (Romans 8:17-27). In verses 17,18 we answer the question: What are the gains of glory? And in verses 19-27 the question: What are the groans of glory? The subject and quality of hope is in short supply today. “The Spirit of Adoption!”
This week’s sermon (Romans 8:12-17) is on one of the most neglected and yet most fundamental topics in all of the Scripture: The person and Work of the Holy Spirit. Many believers today are woefully ignorant of this third Person of the Trinity. The Apostle Paul introduces us to Him in Romans chapter 8: The entire chapter speaks to the Holy Spirit’s deliverance, adoption, redemption and regeneration. He is our Helper in intercession, our Savior in so great salvation and the One who empowers us to complete our destiny through His empowerment and guidance. “There is Therefore Now NO CONDEMNATION”
You may not realize it but the whole of your life, now that you are a born again believer, assuming that indeed you are, is wrapped up in the focus of glorifying the God who saved us from sin and death. It is an egregious contradiction in terms when professing believers either have no desire for spiritual victory over their sin or are ignorant they have already been granted it through the gift of grace in the gospel of Jesus Christ. The reality of freedom and liberty in Christ should be a stunning realization, to the believer, of the wonder of Christ and of Christianity. The reality of our freedom in Christ is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. The reason for our freedom in Christ is our justification. The route to our freedom in Christ is His substitutionary life, death, burial and resurrection. The result of our freedom in Christ is the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit. The nature of our freedom in Christ is a lifestyle of ongoing victory over our sin and the ultimate glory of God being manifest in our lives. Romans 8:1-11 may be the most powerful section in the entirety of Scripture! Please take this one home with you as you Listen for LIFE!
“Who is the Man of Romans Chapter Seven?”
In these verses we see a historical tension between four points of view when it comes to understanding the quest for spiritual victory over sin in the Christian’s life. Who is this man, Paul speaks of in Romans 7:14-20? Is he speaking of himself when he was an unsaved man? Is the Apostle Paul speaking of himself as a believer but a carnal, fleshly, immature man? Is he speaking of himself under the conviction of the Holy Spirit or is he speaking of a mature believer who realizes the utter depravity of his own sin as well as his utter dependence upon the Holy Spirit to gain victory over his sinful human nature? This biblical controversy demands an answer, for with the answer comes understanding, hope and spiritual victory for the daily walk and victory of the true believer. “What Shall We Say Then”
Unfortunately, much confusion exists inside and outside of the church today on the subject of the Law of God and its purpose to reveal, provoke, lead and settle its holy, righteous and perfect purpose. The Apostle Paul, in Romans 7:7-12, leads his readers to a thoughtful conclusion as to the Law of God and its purpose in our lives. "What Shall We Say Then?" - (Is the Law, SIN?)
