WHO is the Church? Living a Victorious, Spirit-Filled Life

n our current series: What / Who is the Church: Pastor Pete continues with the seventh of ten sermons on How to Live a Victorious, Spirit-Filled Life. (The secret to living in spiritual victory over the world, the flesh and the devil). This message is life lessons from the book of Proverbs. Only the fool despises wisdom and instruction. Wisdom is the principle thing, therefore we must seek wisdom. Where is wisdom to be found? Within the pages of Holy Scripture. We must discipline our minds to read God’s Word, believe God’s Word and see to it we are being obedient to God’s Word. Listen for Life!

WHO is the Church? A Spiritual Emphasis on Intentional Discipleship – Part Three

n this third installment of Pastor Pete’s message in the series on What and Who is the Church we continue in the discourse of the importance of making intentional disciples. Over the last two messages we have been circling the subject of what is true salvation. This week Pastor Pete lands the plane. The text comes from the very controversial passage of Hebrews 5:11-6:12. What about the sheep and goat? How do we know if we are truly saved? Why do we need to test, examine and prove ourselves to see if we are in the faith? What was the writer of Hebrews suggesting regarding tasting so great salvation? Was it written to unbelieving Jews who had witnessed the miracles and teachings of both Christ and His disciples, or was it written to believers who are being threatened to a loss of salvation? An honest presentation of maturity is given from infancy to childhood, adolescence to young adulthood and maturity in Christ. Please reference the worksheet “Are You Saved?” The MBC Continuum and the chart on the five stages of Discipleship are also available as a download. Listen for Life!

Sunday, The Lord’s Day

This Sunday, we will be exploring the origin of Sunday as the traditional day of Christian worship; it is part 2 of the message that was presented on July 13, 2014 entitled “Unveiling the Sabbath” at https://www.familybiblechurchkingman.org/sermons/unveiling-the-sabbath/ . Sunday, also called the Lord’s Day, is a day of remembering Jesus Christ as our Savior. Sunday is not to be confused with Saturday, the traditional, biblical Sabbath (which is the day appointed in the Mosaic Covenant to remember God as Creator). Contrary to what many claim, the Sabbath was never switched from Saturday to Sunday. This message will refute this claim and pose that, according to passages contained in Matthew 28, Luke 23 and 24, that Sunday was appointed by God to worship and praise Jesus as Lord and Savior.

WHO is the Church? A Spiritual Emphasis on Intentional Discipleship Part Two

Last time we were only able to complete the first half of the first point on knowing we are true disciples of Jesus Christ. Jesus said to Nicodemus in John chapter 3: “You must be born again.” Unfortunately, many who consider themselves followers of Jesus have never been born again. The issue with a failure of the church in not fulfilling the great commission to make disciples is not so much with unwilling or stubborn sheep but goats who sincerely believe they are sheep. Where do we individually and as a church begin in order to fulfill a Great Commission Focus Fueled with a Great Commandment Passion? Are you a true disciple / follower of Jesus Christ and are you being obedient in “Making Disciples?” Listen for Life!

WHO is the Church? A Spiritual Emphasis on Intentional Discipleship

Jesus said to His disciples before He left for heaven, “I will build My church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” He also said, “Greater things you will do,” speaking of the church and individual Christ followers. Why do you think the church is failing in America? What did Jesus say, and what instructions did Jesus give to His church that we are or are not following? In this week’s fourth message on the series: What and WHO is the Church, Pastor Pete will speak on: “A Spiritual Emphasis on Intentional Discipleship” – (The Secret to Multiplication: Disciple – SHIFT). This material is taken in part from the book “Discipleshift” by: Putman, Harrington and Coleman, Zondervan Publishing Company, c. 2013. Our challenge is to be obedient to Christ’s command to “Go make disciples.” This is called the Great Commission. The Great Commandment is to love the Lord our God with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength and to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. What is our collective challenge as a church? To prayerfully and obediently strive to be disciples and become disciple makers with a great commission focus fueled with a great commandment passion. Listen for LIFE!

Are You Saved?

There is a possibility of being deceived about our salvation. Jesus said, "I never knew you" (Matthew 7:23) to those who did things "in your name" (Matthew 7:22). Paul said that we should "examine ourselves" to see if we are "in the faith," and that we could "fail the test." Failing this test would indicate that Jesus is not in you. (2 Corinthians 13:5). It truly is a matter of life and death. Eternity with Him, or eternity without Him.

WHO is the Church – A Spiritual Collective Courage Part Two

This week Pastor Pete concludes the second message on What and Who is the Church: “A Spiritual Collective Courage: (The Secret to Living in Courage).” As we see on the news and hear of hundreds and even thousands of Christian martyrs around the world we look on in admiration and possibly fear of what could be coming to us right here in America. Where does courage and confidence to live fearlessly for Christ come from? How do we individually and corporately determine to follow the LORD no matter the cost. Pastor Pete shares from the life and book of Joshua, chapter one, where we are reminded to be of good courage and to fear not. This message is of the utmost relevance for all believers today, whether we live in a Muslim war zone or in Kingman, Arizona. As for me and my house we will serve the Lord! – Joshua. WHO is the Church? – A Spiritual Collective Courage

Sometimes as believers, in the church of Jesus Christ, we feel like we are just spinning our wheels and getting nowhere fast. Why does it appear that some prosper in their faith and live joyful, victorious and productive lives and others just seem to flounder, languish and rot away on the vine? What is the secret to living in confidence as a believer in the church of Jesus Christ? What should be the new normal for every Christian believer in the church today? Pastor Pete will take a lesson from the life and book of Joshua to illustrate how God wants to work in every one of His disciples. A Spiritual Collective Courage is what is desperately needed in the church around the world. How do we get there individually and together as the body of Christ? Listen for LIFE!
